Our Developmet History

Far Western University was established in 2010 through an Act of Parliament as a government funded university. The university is the result of a decade long struggle of the people of Far Western Region. The central office of the university is located at Bheemdatt Municipality of Kanchanpur district. Since its inception, FU has been striving to fulfill its responsibility of making higher education accessible to the people of this region. As per the FU act, the process of merging Siddhanath Science campus is underway and Siddhanath Multiple has been completed. The university envisages seven faculties covering different academic areas. However, immediate priority of the university is to begin with the four faculties (Humanities and Social Science, Education, Management and Science and Technology). In these faculties undergraduate and countries graduate programmes are planned in different subjects. All undergraduate courses of the university will be of four-year duration. FU has been started its undergraduate academic programmes at central campus, Mahendranagar. In the coming years, FU has a plan to expand its network in other district of the region and also in other parts of the country.
